CASE STUDY
Vespers — a multicamera production of a musical event
For Foundation with a Rose, we produced a filmed recording of the event “Vespers of the Immaculate Heart of Mary” with music by Paweł Bębenek. A key element of the production was the multicamera setup: from planning the camera operators’ work in advance to the final edit of footage recorded simultaneously from several perspectives.
The challenge
Recording a live musical event leaves no opportunity to repeat its most important moments. Each camera needs to capture a different element at the right time: the conductor, performers, soloists, details and wider shots.
The camera operators therefore had to be coordinated so that footage from all cameras complemented one another and provided enough variety of shots for the subsequent edit.
Our approach
Before the event, we planned the camera positions, the responsibilities of each operator and the types of shots needed during the successive parts of the performance.
In post-production, footage from multiple cameras was combined into a coherent whole. The edit followed the music, the dynamics of the performance and the dramaturgy of the event, selecting at each moment the perspective that best showed what was happening during the performance.
Scope of work
- multicamera production planning
- live event recording

- production and post-production
The project covered the complete video production process — from planning the cameras and operators through recording the live event to multicamera editing and final post-production.
