CASE STUDY
Brave Festival — animation promoting a meeting of cultures at risk of being forgotten
For Brave Festival, we created an animated promotional spot for an international event that introduced audiences to cultures at risk of disappearing or being forgotten through theatre, music, film, dance and traditional rituals. Our task was to capture the festival's remarkable diversity in a short, dynamic format based on animation and motion design .
The challenge
Brave Festival was not an event based on a single genre, style or form of performance. Music, theatre, dance, rituals and traditions from very different cultures met on the same stage.
The animation therefore had to show this diversity while still retaining a clear promotional character and attracting the viewer's interest in the event within just a few dozen seconds.
Our approach
We chose a dynamic animated format combining images and motifs representing different forms of expression: dance, music, stage movement, costumes and distinctive elements of tradition.
Rather than explaining each individual tradition in detail, the spot creates the impression of many worlds meeting — intense, colourful and unlike a conventional music or theatre festival.
Cultures at risk of being forgotten
The idea behind Brave Festival grew from the need to present people and communities that preserve their own songs, rituals, ceremonies, spirituality and traditions despite the pressures of the modern world.
The festival did not treat these cultures as exotic curiosities. Its purpose was to allow artists to present their own identities and to create a space for genuine encounters between different cultures.
Many faces of Asia
Asian traditions played a particularly important role in the edition presented in the film. Artists came to Wrocław from countries including Singapore, Laos, Sri Lanka, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, India, China and Russia.
The diversity of forms — from theatre and dance to music, ritual and traditional song — provided material for a highly visual and energetic promotional animation.

BRAVE FESTIVAL
Against being displaced from culture
Brave Festival grew out of the work of Song of the Goat Theatre and the idea of creating a space for artists who preserve traditions at risk of disappearing under the pressure of social and civilisational change.
The festival brought together very different forms of expression, but their common denominator was culture understood as a living part of identity — passed on through music, dance, theatre, ritual and direct encounters between people.
