CASE STUDY
Peterson — when a wallet becomes the hero of an animation
Peterson gave us considerable creative freedom in developing a film promoting the wallet brand. Instead of a conventional product presentation, we created a series of short animated scenes in which the wallets begin to behave like characters: they work, play sports, relax, travel and party.
The challenge
A wallet is a small and static product. A conventional product film could focus on material details, the interior and craftsmanship, but it would be difficult to build a distinctive and memorable story in this way.
The challenge was therefore to find a form that would allow us to present different wallet models while giving the products personality and building a light, humorous world around them.
Our approach
We started with simple situations from everyday life: work, sport, holidays, travel and a party.
Each of these themes became a separate animated gag in which wallets and coins begin to behave like characters. Movement replaces dialogue and communicates the idea within just a few seconds.
CREATIVE CONCEPT
Five situations. Five animated ideas.
WORK
One wallet moves across the screen, “eating” the coins placed in front of it. Another follows in pursuit.
The scene deliberately references the mechanics of the classic game “Pac-Man” and uses the natural association between a wallet and money.
SPORT
Two wallets stand on opposite sides of the frame and bounce a coin back and forth between them.
The simple animation evokes the classic game “Pong”, transforming the products into players competing in their own match.
HOLIDAYS
Three wallets relax on a beach. Above them shines a sun made from one large coin, surrounded by smaller coins forming its rays.
The minimalist composition allows a clear holiday scene to be created from just a few products and simple elements.
TRAVEL
A group of identical wallets moves together across the frame, rhythmically flapping their sides like wings.
The wallets become a flock of birds, creating a visual shorthand for travel and movement.
PARTY
Two wallets — one larger and one smaller — dance while rotating around each other.
The movement begins to resemble a dance, turning a simple presentation of the wallets into a short scene with its own personality.
One visual language
Each segment uses a different idea, but all of them are based on the same principle: the wallet stops being a motionless object and gains the qualities of a character through animation.
This makes it possible to show different models in a variety of situations without having to build a separate plot, set or location for each part of the film.
Scope of work
- creative concept
- script
- direction
- development of five animated product sequences
- animation and motion design
- editing
- commercial and product film
- production and post-production
RESULT
A product presented through an idea, not just its appearance
Animation gives the product personality
Movement allowed us to use the wallets in a way that would be impossible in a conventional product presentation. Without actors or dialogue, the products begin to perform their own short scenes.
A simple idea, understood instantly
Each sequence uses a familiar association and can be understood almost immediately. This keeps the film light and dynamic while ensuring that Peterson wallets remain at the centre of attention throughout.
