The development of the Internet and multimedia technology in the 20th and 21st centuries has changed and raised education to a completely different level. In 2021, knowledge and information are available to almost everyone, on demand, instantly, virtually anywhere in the world, giving the opportunity to educate and develop people of all ages - children, adults and the elderly. What previously required an enormous effort - to collect, organize, consolidate and transfer knowledge to the next generations - has become a globally available, inexpensive and automated process.

Thus, social expectations regarding education are growing, both in terms of the level of education of future employees and the level of education offered by educational institutions or individual educators. We educate ourselves throughout our lives, and by relying on the experience of experts in a given field, we can shorten the time of acquiring knowledge or skills many times over. The "master-apprentice" model still applies, except that a master can reach as many students as he or she would not be physically able to meet in his lifetime.

Augmented and Virtual Reality

Today it is difficult to imagine education without advanced technology. Books are still present, but already in virtual form - e-books or audiobooks, thanks to e-commerce, we have them at our fingertips, because virtually all equipment is currently online - it works in the cloud - in which we can buy and download knowledge. With the participation of more and more complex, publicly available personal devices, equipped with a camera, microphone and various sensors - VR (Virtual Reality) or AR (Augumented Reality) glasses, we can view information stored on layers of the virtual world regarding a specific place or object in real space, e.g. a monument in the capital, a rare species of plants on a seaside beach, or a contemporary painting in a gallery in Silesia.

Using a smartphone, we can scan the QR code, for example, on a nature monument located in the center of the forest, then, after launching the web browser, we can go to the page where you will find information about the place where you can, for example, watch an educational film, listen to a podcast or read an interview with an expert who will provide us with relevant scientific knowledge, arouse curiosity and encourage us to explore the topic further. Never before has reality been so interactive, and at the same time structured and described on such a detailed level.

Educational platforms - learning without leaving home

There are many English-language educational platforms such as Education On Demand, e.g. Coursera, LinkedIn Learning, edX, Masterclass, where access to knowledge and skills is offered in virtually every area of life, e.g. drawing, raising children, photography, business management, copyright, fashion design, cooking, ballet, playing an instrument, or operating a graphics program.

By logging on to such a platform and buying a specific course, the user can choose the time that is convenient for them, and design the entire education path - they only choose the courses and topics in which they are really interested. Educational videos, tutorials, courses are carried out by experienced instructors with psychological preparation, who not only educate, but also motivate to immediately use the acquired knowledge or skills, which gives the educated person incredible satisfaction from the effort made and encourages further progress in the chosen field. Moreover, the entire curriculum can be adapted to the different levels of advancement of learners. The same material, intended for children, will differ in form compared to older audiences - the episodes will probably be much shorter, much more colorful and dynamic, containing rich animation sequences and engaging, interactive tasks with elements of gamification - learning through play and setting goals to oneself.

Educational video and instructional video - are they the same?

The aforementioned both genres of films are used conventionally, often both definitions intertwine, fulfilling a similar educational function. Training videos, or otherwise instructional videos and the so-called explainer video (usually in the form of a simple animation) helps to understand the essence of a product or service, and is becoming an increasingly popular form of teaching used in e-learning for children and adults. But usually an instructional film is used in commercial applications, it is limited to a narrow issue of a practical nature, without going into scientific discussions or explaining the theoretical basis of operation - the focus is on acquiring a specific skill, operating the device, going step by step through a specific process.

Our projects - Paul meets Szymon - Legal English

Paul meets Szymon - Legal English, is an English language course implemented by us for adepts of law who want to organize their language skills and expand their specialized vocabulary. In short, 10-15-minute episodes, the adventures of a nice British man - Paul are presented in a conversation with his legal advisor - a Pole - Szymon, who tries to solve the problems of everyday life in Poland, and at the same time explains the intricacies of Polish law - criminal, administrative and civil. The characters' conversation is dynamic and includes captions with highlighted industry keywords that are worth paying special attention to, and at the end of each episode, you can view a summary of the vocabulary and phrases used in a specific situational context, which greatly facilitates the consolidation of the entire material.

Our projects - Artur Lesicki - Guitar school

Craft and Art - Guitar School - Artur Lesicki's educational music course is another of our work. One of the leading Polish jazz guitarists and an excellent teacher presents issues related to mastering the instrument, incl. - basics of technique, chord structure, harmony, basics of improvisation.

Close-up shots from an additional camera allow you to analyze the technique of the game - placing the fingers of the left hand on the fingerboard (the right hand is visible in the main view). Our projects - Mitutoyo Metrology Class

This series of videos can also be qualified as instructional videos. For our client, the Japanese company Mitutoyo, from the industrial metrology branch, we have prepared several episodes presenting methods of calibration and measurement using specialized devices.

After a short introduction and discussion of the key features of the product, a practical presentation follows, thanks to which the user can precisely study the measurement techniques used. The added Closed Captions subtitles on the YouTube channel allow you to watch the movie in the language corresponding to the browser location settings - in practice, after the correct configuration, each viewer can watch the movie with subtitles automatically in his own language.

Educational film - a variety of applications

Below, we present some of the possible profiles of our clients and the scope of the proposed solutions. Each of the realized educational films reaches specific audiences with specific needs and requirements, of a specific age and social profile.

The selection of the appropriate form and means for a specific target group contributes to the attractiveness of the message and affects its popularity among recipients.

Education and education centers

The COVID pandemic, especially the 2019-2021 period, forced the use of distance learning for children, adolescents and adults, many universities took up the topic of online education by delivering lectures through videoconferences. Each time, the lecturer must be present at the class, if not in the same place, then at a certain time. On the one hand, it is necessary - it can answer participants' questions on an ongoing basis, but some elements of the education process are repetitive and can be optimized.

The recording of the lecture in the form of an educational film here has a significant advantage over the traditional form of communication - it is made only once, and the material can be made available to participants many times. Limitations related to live streaming, such as internet connection bandwidth, and the need to fit in the educational material within specific time frames are also eliminated.

One of the cases may be, inter alia, a film of a complicated production process in a factory, a chemical experiment or a major medical operation with the participation of modern technology. The entire material can also be enriched with other visual layers - 3D animation, charts, which makes such an educational film consistent, dynamic, and the information is conveyed in an attractive way for the recipient.

Museums, galleries and cultural institutions

Works of art - be it painting, sculpture or ceramics, usually look good in a space that is visually clean, not cluttered with rich, substantive content. To achieve this, each exhibit can have one QR code, and the visitor, after scanning it, can use a browser to open a page where he can find information on the topic of interest. The site may present the history of the place, interviews with experts, photos and materials that for various reasons could not be included in the exhibition.

An educational film can summarize the entire exhibition, presenting the history of objects, their creators, or in the case of craftsmanship - showing the process of their creation. The presence of a cinema room gives visitors the opportunity to rest, especially with larger exhibition spaces located on many floors.

NGO

For non-governmental organizations, education may involve social campaigning on a specific issue. The main strategy of such action is usually to attract the attention of a specific group of people with a social campaign spot, and then redirect to the organization's website on the Internet, where additional information can be provided by means of an educational film.

An educational film can raise awareness around a specific social issue, dispel doubts, answer emerging questions and make recipients engage in specific help for the organization or its direct beneficiaries.
